Sunbury-on-Thames Area Guide

As the River Thames loops eastwards from Surrey towards Central London, it flows past the genteel open green spaces and well-preserved period homes of Sunbury-on-Thames. This position on the very edge of the Greater London area is an advantageous one as residents can enjoy an idyllic, semi-rural lifestyle while being less than 50 minutes from the West End and the City. With the Thames forming its southern border, Sunbury has its fair share of grand houses overlooking the river which flows downstream to Hampton Court Palace.

The area is also famous for being the home of Shepperton Studios which continues to be a well-respected component of the global film community. Lower Sunbury is where most residents do their local shopping and is also the site of a good selection of gastropubs. Repurposed buildings such as Dolphin House are providing developers with good opportunities to boost the local housing stock.

There is a great sense of community in the neighbourhood which is fully expressed in the Shepperton Fair and Regatta that takes place every August as the quality and choice of local schools continues to attract young families. Sunbury is connected to London by the mainline train service into Waterloo Station which takes about fifty minutes. Heathrow International Airport is a twelve-minute drive away.
